Q: What journals are indexed in VOCEDplus?

You can find a list of key journals indexed in VOCEDplus by selecting the 'Browse journals' link from the 'Browse' menu. Articles from these journals are, or have been, selectively indexed in VOCEDplus. Each title is linked to a ‘holding’ record that provides information about the journal and contains a link to all articles indexed in VOCEDplus from that journal.

Occasionally, relevant articles from other journals may also be indexed in VOCEDplus.

Q: What are special collections?

These are groups of documents selected by the VOCEDplus team and tagged so that they are automatically gathered together in one place for easy browsing and access.

One example is 'Key research and policy by region' - collections of important tertiary education and training policy and research documents from various regions around the world. Another is the 'Thesis collection' which brings together theses in tertiary education.

The 'Special collections' can be accessed from the home page under the 'Quick links' section, or from the 'Resources' menu.

Q: Can I suggest a new collection for your Special collections page?

Yes, we welcome suggestions from users. Our special collections are grouped under six broad categories. Please use this feedback form to send us details of the proposed new collection for the VOCEDplus team to review. Include, if possible, the category the new collection best fits as well as a sentence or two about the value of the proposed collection to the VET sector.

Q: What is the 'Request from NCVER' service?

The 'Request from NCVER' service is a method of obtaining the full-text of an item held in the VOCEDplus collection but not available electronically. This may consist of receiving a copy of an article or paper by email or the loan of a book by post.

By clicking on the 'Request from NCVER' link in an item record, you simply need to complete the online form which has already been pre-populated with the item details. Our staff will endeavour to action your request within five working days.

Items such as journal articles, conference papers, and reports can, in most cases, be scanned and emailed. Items such as books, conference proceedings and Workplace English Language and Literacy (WELL) collection items may need to be borrowed. Please note, the borrowing of hard copy items is not available to overseas users.

Q: I have requested a document from VOCEDplus. When can I expect a response?

The average turn-around times are 1-2 days. If you have not received a response within five working days, it may be because you supplied an incorrect email address. Please send an email to voced@ncver.edu.au with details of your request.

Q: What is the 'Ask a librarian' service?

The 'Ask a Librarian service', available via the 'Help' page, is an online form that allows you to seek advice and assistance with conducting research and using the VOCEDplus database.

Complete the online form with as much detail as possible and our librarians will attempt to provide you with helpful information. Basic assistance is free, but complex queries will incur fees. See 'Our Services' for more information.

The Ask a Librarian Research Services encompass a range of fee-based services drawing on the expertise of the NCVER Knowledge Management branch members. These range from foundation-level services, including literature searches and citation analysis through to advanced- and customised-level services such as research reviews and topic reading lists.
