Professor Mike Dockery is a Principal Research Fellow at the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre. Prior to this role, he led the Population Mobility and Labour Markets Project for the CRC for Remote Economic Participation from 2011-2017 and was Director of the Centre for Labour Market Research from 2010 to 2013. His research focusses on improving labour market, education, and wellbeing outcomes for marginalised groups within society and he has produced seminal works on the positive effects of cultural engagement and identity on wellbeing for Indigenous Australians. Other areas of focus include the economics of education, the school-to-work transition, subjective wellbeing (or 'happiness') and links between housing and socio-economic outcomes. Recent projects include analyses of the adequacy of the superannuation system for Indigenous Australians, demand for STEM skills, impacts of household crowding on children and determinants of parental expectations for their children's education. Mike has published over 60 papers in national and international journals, plus a variety of book chapters and monographs, he is on the editorial boards of the Australian Journal of Labour Economics and the Journal of Happiness Studies and frequently provides input into policy formulation.
