This study analyses the viability of adopting a system of national competency standard (NCS) similar to those being used in developed countries in order to develop Korea’s skilled labour force to meet the needs of the industry. The rationale for adopting a NCS is explained, the basic directives for the future implementation of a NCS are provided, and recommendations are made for the further development of the NCS system in Korea.

Using a unique internet survey of standard and non-standard workers in Japan, the author studied the determinants of their perceived wage equity and job satisfaction by employment category. The primary finding was that distinctions of employment category and workers' career concerns are more influential in determining perceived wage equity than wages and job contents per se. Secondly, the determinants of job satisfaction are rather common in each employment category, although a notable difference exists in the components of wage satisfaction. Satisfaction with wages, job security, training and working hours are all important in determining overall job satisfaction, which in turn contributes to organizational performance, Thirdly, measurements of capability show somewhat disadvantageous positions for non-standard workers, particularly those of contractual/temp-agency workers.

This report investigates the characteristics and consequences of temporary employment in Guyana, along with a brief examination of two other forms of non-standard employment (NSE) - part-time work, and disguised employment. This is done by analyzing data from Q3 and Q4 of the 2017 Guyana Labour Force Survey, combined with insights from interviews conducted with key informants in the country. The report is structured as follows: An overview of the legal environment as it relates to NSE is first presented as the backdrop for later sections. Temporary employment, subdivided into fixed-term and short-term employment, is then examined in detail and constitutes the bulk of this paper. A brief examination of part-time employment follows, after which, comments on disguised employment in Guyana are made. The overlap of types of NSE is the final matter inspected. A concluding section ties the previous sections together.

These Tourism RMCS describe the competencies used in a range of occupations and job roles that apply across the whole tourism industry. Competency is in essence extremely simple, involving being clear about what people in, or entering work need to be able to do. When competency is described in these RMCS it is an essential tool for: basing training and assessment, at the least, on those identified outcomes; and certifying that people can actually do what was specified as the outcome and credentialing them accordingly. Thus the Tourism RMCS enables the tourism industry to accurately define its workplace requirements. As well as underpinning training and vocational education outcomes these standards provide the benchmark for recognition of competencies gained informally.

Summarised are performance outcomes from ‘Benchmarking VET: the performance of the vocational education and training sector in 1995’ (Australian National Training Authority (ANTA), 1996; TD/ANTA 47.10). This publication is the first compilation of national VET statistics that can provide a reliable measuring stick against which future performance in VET can be compared.
Areas of achievement include: undertaking a TAFE course significantly assists employment aims; a significant number of graduates are satisfied with their studies; TAFE provides a valuable service to rural and regional Australia; TAFE has developed extensive links with business; and a significant number of employers are satisfied with VET’s services.
Areas requiring attention include: improving outcomes for graduates from particular client groups; better aligning training to employers’ expressed needs; attending to the requirements of smaller employers; and increasing information to employers about key aspects of the VET system. Show less

The paper outlines the differences between state-recognised training occupations and other types of occupations and professions within the 'dual' system of vocational education and training [VET] in Germany, the quantitative development of new and modernised state-recognised training occupations and the significance of the 'vocational/occupational' concept.
As a result of increased reorganisation activities (modernisation and creation of new state-recognised training occupations) over the last five years, some paradigmatic elements for the creation of vocational profiles have developed, especially a dynamic system of recognised training occupations and flexibility through diverse structural models. Besides these elements for contextual educational reform there are new tools and instruments especially for an early identification of qualification requirements and expert teams for supporting the standard setting work.

Developing vocational education is an important strategy in current Chinese education. However, vocational teachers are in a shortage and there isn't a sound system of training and cultivating these teachers. Especially, there hasn't formed any effective standard of vocational teachers. These three factors are the main reasons to hinder the development and increase of its quality and level. Therefore, establishing national standard of vocational teacher training is becoming very necessary. In this paper the author explores the standard and system of vocational teacher training from two aspects, namely, grasping professional skills and professional teaching competence. National standard of vocational teacher training will become a basis for vocational teacher qualification. According to this standard, vocational teacher qualification curriculum will be built and implemented by vocational educational institutions. We will share our experiences and measures in building vocational teacher qualification system in China and explore some key issues.
