The Randstad Workmonitor was launched in 2003 and now covers 34 markets around the world. The study encompasses Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas. The Randstad Workmonitor is published twice a year. In addition to the rotating set of themed questions, the survey also addresses job satisfaction, captures the likelihood of an employee changing jobs within the next six months, and provides a comprehensive understanding of sentiments and trends in the job market. The study is conducted online among employees aged 18 to 65, working a minimum of 24 hours a week in a paid job (not self-employed). Minimum sample size is 800 interviews per market. The Dynata panel is used for sampling purposes. The first full survey of 2021 was conducted in 34 markets from February 15 to March 8, 2021.

The Randstad Workmonitor was launched in the Netherlands in 2003, then in Germany, and covers 34 countries around the world. The study encompasses Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas. The study is published four times a year, making both local and global trends in mobility visible over time. The Workmonitor's Mobility Index, which tracks employee confidence and captures the likelihood of an employee changing jobs within the next six months, provides a comprehensive understanding of sentiments and trends in the job market. Besides mobility, the survey addresses employee satisfaction and personal motivation as well as a rotating set of themed questions. The study is conducted online among employees aged 18-65, working a minimum of 24 hours a week in a paid job (not self-employed). Minimum sample size is 400 interviews per country. The Survey Sampling International (SSI) panel is used for sampling purposes. The fourth survey of 2018 was conducted from 23 October until 8 November 2018.

The Hays Global Skills Index (the 'Index') is an annual assessment of the trends impacting skilled labour markets and examines the dynamics at play across 33 countries, determining how easy or difficult it is for organisations to find the skilled professionals they need. This is the sixth edition of the Index and for many organisations across the globe access to talent remains an issue. Businesses are continuing to compete for the sought-after skills required to operate and ultimately succeed. When employers don't have the right people with the right skills, the implications can be far reaching. While organisations continue to deal with skills shortages, labour markets across the globe are continually changing. This report explores three significant labour market changes: employers and workers are increasingly taking up less rigid working patterns, skilled migration is on the rise, and new technology is raising questions about who will do the work of tomorrow and what that work will look like.

During the next year, if given the choice, one in four millennials would quit his or her current employer to join a new organization or to do something different. That figure increases to 44 per cent when the time frame is expanded to two years. By the end of 2020, two of every three respondents hope to have moved on, while only 16 per cent of millennials see themselves with their current employers a decade from now. This remarkable absence of loyalty represents a serious challenge to any business employing a large number of millennials, especially those in markets - like the United States - where Millennials now represent the largest segment of the workforce. Businesses must adjust how they nurture loyalty among millennials or risk losing a large percentage of their workforces.
This survey collected the views of nearly 7,700 millennials representing 29 countries around the globe. All participants were born after 1982, have obtained a college or university degree, are employed fulltime, and predominantly work in large (100+ employees), private sector organizations. This summary explores the factors that underlie the loyalty challenge and offers suggestions, based on respondent responses, that could help earn that loyalty back.

The Hays Global Skills Index (the 'Index') is an annual assessment of the trends impacting skilled labour markets and examines the dynamics at play across 33 markets, determining how easy or difficult it is for organisations to find the skilled professionals they need. The seventh edition of the Index sheds new light on the multiple pressures facing today's labour markets around the world. These include: growing talent mismatch; the widespread productivity puzzle; ageing populations; gender pay gaps; and shrinking share of the national income for workers.
As ever, the picture is complex. While global economic growth is forecast to increase this year, that trend has not been matched by widespread growth in the productivity or wages of global workforces. This report highlights a number of factors that may be contributing to this sluggishness; a key example is the growing talent mismatches between the skills workers possess and those desired by employers. This is a trend identified in almost half of the 33 markets assessed in this Index - indeed, of the 17 European countries with data on job vacancies, no fewer than 16 have showed a rise in their rate of unfilled employment vacancies this year - a key indicator of talent mismatches.
But that's only one element of the story. This report also investigates the global productivity puzzle, which has seen labour productivity levels particularly in Europe and the Middle East grow at rates far below their pre-financial crisis levels. While this was to be expected in the immediate aftermath of the crisis, the fact that productivity has not bounced back during the subsequent economic recovery is more surprising. Some countries appear to be stuck in a low growth trap, whereby weak productivity growth has led to reduced investment in labour and capital, further weakening overall productivity levels - with troubling knock-on effects for workers. But there are also longer-term trends to consider, notably countries' ageing populations. This report also explores what causes such marked differences in the average working hours of countries featured in the Index, and the significant gender gaps that endure in everything from average wages to opportunities for promotion.
Another serious issue of concern is the shrinking share of national income that workers receive, which has been linked to the effects of globalisation and the increasing introduction of robots, Al and machine learning. But again, as this report explains, this is not a one-size-fits-all issue. In some industrial sectors and geographical regions, the advent of Al and robotics may potentially boost the productivity of workers. This is, in part, because technological innovation cuts the cost of producing goods and services, raising the purchasing power of consumers whose extra spending creates new jobs. In other sectors and regions, however, it is having a clear, negative impact on jobs and wage growth. Overall, a key challenge for policymakers must be to try to ensure their citizens possess the right skills to take advantage of whatever new opportunities emerge in this fast-changing work landscape.

Last year, many millennials seemed to be planning near-term exits from their employers. But, after 12 months of political and social upheaval, those ambitions have been tempered, according to Deloitte Global's sixth annual Millennial Survey. Young professionals now indicate they're less likely to leave the security of their jobs, more concerned about uncertainty arising from conflict, and - especially in developed countries - not optimistic about their future prospects nor the directions their countries are going. The findings are based on the views of almost 8,000 millennials questioned across 30 countries in September 2016.
