This CD-ROM package offers a simple introduction to the numeracy required by workers in sawmills and timber yards. It is divided into three main sections: sawmill, merchandising and basic calculations. Each of these have sections within them, for example the sawmill section has three subsections, the log yard, the mill and picking. Within each section there is a short description of an activity and the maths involved. Step-by-step worked examples, a practice activity and a list of the competencies addressed by this activity are offered. The merchandising section offers calculations in the contexts of filling orders for timber and non timber products, calculating prices and working out total prices for an order. The basic calculations section offers worked examples of all the maths operations required in the other sections. Show less
