Education at a glance 2016: OECD indicators

This annual publication provides data on the structure, finances and performance of education systems in the 35 OECD countries and a number of partner countries. It provides information on: the output of educational institutions; the impact of learning across countries; the financial and human resources invested in education; access, participation and progression in education; and the learning environment and organisation of schools.

New material in the 2016 edition includes: (1) a new indicator (A9) analysing the completion rate of tertiary students (i.e. how many students who enter a tertiary education programme actually graduate within a given number of years); (2) another new indicator (D6) providing insights on who are the school leaders and how they work; (3) trend data and analysis on teachers' salaries; graduation rates; expenditure on education, from public and private sources; enrolment rates from upper secondary to tertiary education and for first-time new entrants in tertiary education; young adults who are neither employed nor in education or training; class size; and teaching hours; (4) analysis of gender imbalance in education, from differences in earnings and fields of education to over-representation of women in the teaching profession and their under-representation among school leaders; and (5) a focus on the profile of students who attend and graduate from vocational education.
