A fresh start for TAFE SA

This publication is the South Australian state government's transformation plan to restore confidence, and reposition TAFE SA as an effective, efficient public training provider. In 2017, the Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) identified major shortcomings in its audit of TAFE SA. The findings of the audit were the catalyst for two reviews. The Quality Review of TAFE SA [available in VOCEDplus at TD/TNC 132.179] undertaken by the Nous Group outlines 9 recommendations in relation to strategy, governance, capability, culture, resources and systems. The government supports all 9 recommendations. The TAFE SA Strategic Capability Review [available in VOCEDplus at TD/TNC 133.468] undertaken by Terry Moran AC and Kim Bannikoff outlines serious concerns in relation to leadership, strategy and delivery. Of the 14 recommendations in the review: 9 are supported; recommendations 7, 8, 9 and 10 are under consideration; and recommendation 12 has been noted. The role of the Department of Treasury and Finance is to monitor agency budgets and advise government on required budget adjustment strategies across all agencies. TAFE SA will be monitored in the same way. This plan for transformation has been informed by the recommendations in the reviews.
