Apprenticeships can be a great way for people to combine learning and earning and for employers to meet their skills needs. In the UK today, apprenticeships have a wide focus, including on all ages, a range of levels, and existing as well as new employees. The Government's 2016 Apprenticeship Pay Survey suggested one in five apprentices were paid less than their legal minimum entitlement, rising to one in two in sectors like hairdressing.
