Early school leaving: towards a common system of measurement

Many measures, involving a large number of actors, have been put in place to fight early school leaving. Each scheme or programme has its own system of counting, suited to its own particular remit, and the figures obtained vary by as much as 100 per cent. There are two possible ways of alleviating these difficulties: fostering cooperation between institutions and improving the early identification of at-risk pupils by adopting a sub-regional approach.
