Smart directions statement for information and communications technology within the Queensland Government

This statement sets a direction for information and communications technology (ICT) for all Queensland government agencies and the government as a whole. It also establishes a framework for decision making that recognises the strong relationship between strategic information and ICT. There are five focus areas in the statement: (1) government as a single enterprise; (2) enabling the business priorities of government; (3) improving value for money; (4) increasing public sector capabilities; and (5) partnering with the private sector. The directions and actions within each focus area will generate improved business and ICT value from the government’s significant investment. The statement will be reviewed annually to respond to the rapidly changing ICT environment and an annual progress report will be prepared for the government that includes achievements and future directions.
