Across the globe, [technical and vocational education and training] TVET is being positioned as strategic assets in innovation and economic competitiveness, and as problem-solvers for socio-economic issues affecting their countries and therefore there emerge the need for strategic partnerships between TVET Institutions/TVET Institution with industries that go beyond the traditional funding of discrete research projects. Therefore, it is implied to have sufficient ground to undertake the study on this important and vital issue in sixteen [Colombo Plan Staff College] CPSC member countries. The purpose of this research is to examine and discuss the status of Industry Institute Linkages in the TVET system of the CPSC member countries. The goal of Institution-industry collaborations is to fully capitalize on the potential of both parties while simultaneously satisfying the mission and objectives of each partner. Here, the quantitative and qualitative approaches were deployed to conduct the research by collecting the data from the primary, secondary and tertiary sources through closed ended questionnaires. In order to analyze the qualitative data, the content analyses method is used to analyze the responses.

This report aims to provide an overview of international student recruitment and mobility policies by national governments in key recruiting and recruitment countries, and to identify the emerging implications of these developments for the Netherlands. The report is targeted at Dutch early-career policymakers at national and institutional levels, early-career marketing officers and researchers in the area of international student mobility. The report consists of four chapters. Chapter one sets out the focus of this study and gives an overview of the main factors that influence international student mobility. Chapter two analyses national government policies and strategies for international student recruitment in 11 countries that are active in international student recruitment. These countries include the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and China. Chapter three describes national student mobility policies and the local context in recruitment countries that are (or may become) particularly important to the Netherlands. These countries are Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Egypt. Chapter four offers the conclusions of this study.

There is a massive shift underway in the global economy. In the wake of the pandemic, the world is witnessing a historic transformation in how people work, why they work and where they work. At LinkedIn, we call it the Great Reshuffle, an unprecedented moment in history where we are reimagining the future of work. People are actively acquiring new skills and pursuing new ventures. Employers are reinventing business models and creating new markets. And all of this economic upheaval, which would normally play out over the course of decades, is being compressed into a couple of years. Amid this Great Reshuffle, we're faced with an urgent need to transition our society to a green economy to address the threat of climate change.
Green skills are a critical factor in realising the success and speed of the green transition. Our data shows hiring for green skill talent is rising globally but nowhere near what's needed. In addition to diagnosing where we need to make more progress, we provide recommendations on how to close the green skills gap, upskill workers and enable the shift to more green jobs. This report provides new data on green skills and jobs from all across the world, to empower policymakers, governments and business leaders with actionable insights to help them transition the global workforce to a green economy future. We examine the gaps that exist across income, gender and education levels, and provide recommendations for actions that governments, organisations and individuals can take.

How far is the world progressing towards comprehensive qualifications frameworks? The 2015 global inventory of regional and national qualifications frameworks was launched on 25 April in Riga, Latvia. The inventory showcases 86 countries and examines how learning outcomes of all types of learning - formal, non-formal and informal - are being integrated into regional and national qualifications frameworks. Volume two provides an inventory of 85 NQFs and seven regional frameworks. The global inventory charts progress toward NQF goals, drawing on extensive research in the field of qualifications.

The Coronavirus [Disease] 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has created significant challenges for the global higher education community. Through a desktop analysis leveraging university and government sources where possible, we provide a timely map of the intra-period higher education responses to COVID-19 across 20 countries. We found that the responses by higher education providers have been diverse from having no response through to social isolation strategies on campus and rapid curriculum redevelopment for fully online offerings. We provide in our discussion a typology of the types of responses currently undertaken and assess the agility of higher education in preparing for the pandemic. We believe there are significant opportunities to learn from the pedagogical developments of other universities, in order to strengthen our collective response to COVID-19 now and into the future.

Tripartite Sector Skills Bodies (SSBs) aim to increase and strengthen the involvement of industry, both employers and workers, in the way skill systems are governed and operate. SSBs have a long history in many countries and are now attracting renewed attention as more countries adopt a sectoral approach to skills development. Drawing on existing research on SSBs and ongoing ILO country level support to constituents as they establish or review sector skills bodies, this policy brief outlines some of the issues that need to be addressed when establishing and operating SSBs. The brief examines the different mandates and structures that have been adopted internationally and presents a number of key actions that will improve the likelihood of sustainable SSBs being established.

The Australian government recognises that a strong Australian Apprenticeship system is essential to sustain a strong economy. Accordingly, an Expert Panel was appointed to provide recommendations to the government on possible ways to reform the system to ensure that it can meet Australia’s skills needs into the 21st century. The panel examined apprenticeship training arrangements, including current incentives, and suggested principles and evidence to improve outcomes for both apprentices and industry. The work of the panel was underpinned by a study on related economic costs and benefits, including research undertaken by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). This is one of four reports prepared by NCVER as part of this study. This report focuses on apprenticeships and traineeships from a whole-of-system perspective. It is intended to situate the system within the overall skilling of the Australian workforce and in an international context. The report also looks at the efficiency of the apprenticeship system in terms of the relationship between inputs and outputs. The report is structured around three papers. The first focuses on occupational training and the role that apprenticeships and traineeships play in that, the second provides a comparison of apprenticeship systems in a selection of other countries, and the final paper takes up the efficiency angle. In order to keep [the] sample manageable, [the authors] have kept [the] inquiries to a selection of 40 countries that collectively best represent the global situation. Of these, [the authors] were able to secure information on tuition fees in 37 countries and on financial assistance in 39. The paper is organised as follows: in chapter one, [the authors] briefly describe the key aspects of the economic, social and political context in which higher education is operating; in chapter two, [the authors] outline the different types of tuition and student aid policies that are in operation around the world and how key policy parameters vary across countries; and in chapter three, [the authors] summarize the main policy changes in key nations around the globe (based on data provided in the annex) and draw conclusions from a meta-level analysis of 2011 policy changes around the globe. The annex consists of a series of brief thumbnail sketches of policy changes in each of [the] G-40 countries.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution refers to a set of highly disruptive technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, blockchain and 3D printing, that are transforming social, economic and political systems and placing pressure on leaders and policy-makers to respond. The paper discusses the huge benefits these technologies will bring, such as empowering SMEs and creating new ways to connect citizens to healthcare. Equally, it will bring tremendous challenges, such as deep disruption to jobs as AI and advanced robotics undermine both manufacturing and services jobs. The region will need a new approach to policy and governance to help it navigate these technologies, which do not recognize national borders. This research report was suggested by the World Economic Forum's ASEAN Regional Strategy Group. The report was written and researched jointly by the World Economic Forum and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
