Diploma mills in the cyberage

This article investigates the increase in phony institutions proffering illegitimate, non-accredited degrees and diplomas, particularly on the Internet. Geber reports that John Bear, co-author of 'Bear's guide to earning college degrees non-traditionally' lists more than 250 institutions that have been identified as 'degree mills'. That number has increased by 50 in the last two years and it is now possible to purchase documentation for almost any award on the Internet. Employers are advised to examine the school's accreditation carefully.
