Innovation is the radical or incremental change, adaptation, enhancement and evolution of ideas, models, processes, products, and technologies to increase efficiency and success; it can happen for many reasons. In education, innovation occurs when students, educators, providers, and governments look beyond established design and delivery, identify ideas of tomorrow and change practice models accordingly. In business, the implementation of creative ideas and products or the improvement of existing services signals innovation. External changes such as those effecting policy, governance and the general cultural, social and political environment are also factors that prompt innovation in these sectors. Innovative people are thought to possess a combination of cognitive, behavioural and functional skills.
