Education and training stakeholders often grapple with providing basic and further education that remains relevant to changeable labour market needs. An important element of this provision is the enabling of school leavers and graduates to access meaningful work opportunities. The transition from education to employment has been a focus of researchers for considerable time and often includes aspects of: work preparedness; career aspirations and opportunities; professional identity; barriers and successes. Research also focuses on the policies, programs and incentives proposed or introduced to assist school leavers and graduates, including employer-led workplace induction and mentoring initiatives.
