Assessment within the vocational education and training (VET) sector includes various learning models and teaching methodologies. New technologies, recognition of prior learning, competency standards, and pedagogy are all aspects of assessment that are considered to be important. Assessment quality is of particular significance and is central to the integrity of VET systems, the qualifications they offer and deliver.  For students and employers, having confidence that assessments are carried out in accordance with current standards is essential. Research in this area provides practitioners and other stakeholders with information on the processes and practices involved in an assessment system including tools, concepts and regulations. A major focus is also on the competencies required by different occupations and industries, including the formulation of curriculums and assessments to meet these requirements.
