The effect of robots on firm performance and employment
This publication examines the impact of robot investment on firm performance and employment at the enterprise level. The analysis is based on a data set on robot purchases derived from data on imports, combined with data from National Accounts Longitudinal Microdata File (NALMF) and from the Workplace and Employee Survey (WES). Investments in robots have been concentrated in the manufacturing sector, with the automotive industry making particularly large investments prior to the year 2008.
