Sixth form options: post-compulsory education in maintained schools
The pathways available to young people in the United Kingdom (UK) on the completion of their compulsory education are changing and this research contributes to information about one type of institution offering continuing education - schools with sixth forms. New sixth forms began to emerge in the early 1990s and followed guidelines that increased educational choices for post-16 students, broadened the curriculum and improved the quality of provision.
