The Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) was an independent national agency set up to promote, audit, and report on quality assurance in Australian higher education. AUQA was a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, and was registered on 24 May 2000. AUQA was created by the Ministerial Council on Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA), the group of nine ministers responsible for higher education in the Australian Commonwealth government and each of the six States and two Territories.
