Professional development for Victorian plumbers: perspectives on program goals and principles

This publicly released industry research and report was undertaken for the Plumbing Industry Commission, the plumbing regulator of Victoria. The report provides feedback on the views of over 1,300 plumbers and industry groups that inform the goals, principles and framework for the future development of a [continuous professional development] CPD policy within Victoria. Plumbers are very supportive of the concept of CPD, and this report explores the reasons and challenges reported by plumbers across Victoria. Plumbers and industry groups provide their views on how to encourage the take-up of CPD activities, how best to administer the program and whether the program should be voluntary or mandatory. This is a topic long discussed within the plumbing industry and this report provides a thorough review of industry views, resulting in proposed goals and principles for a future plumbing CPD program in Victoria.
