A guide to the competency standards for assessment

This guide is intended for persons who are implementing the competency standards for assessment in any type of industry or size of organisation. It was designed to set down a common framework for interpreting assessment standards and implementing good practice in recognising the competencies detailed in those standards. It may be used as a tool for checking the performance of an assessment system overall, the individual assessor, or managers responsible for the operation of the system. Thus this guide can contribute to a quality assurance approach in any industry or enterprise responsible for an assessment system and in a registered training organisation responsible for issuing qualifications against the standards. A key finding of the report ‘Who is using the competency standards for assessment?’ (TD/TNC 47.21) was that a demand existed for support in interpreting and implementing assessment.
