Abstract:

This paper argues that economic, technological, social & organisational changes are bringing about a situation in which it is essential to involve people of all ages in a continuing process of education & training. Narrow training for specific and specialised occupations are becoming obsolete, being replaced by courses emphasising broad skills traditionally associated with general education.
