Anthropological perspective on the missionary position: employers and the national education and training reform agenda

Richard Sweet of the Dusseldorp Skills Forum presented this paper at a Conference of Senior Education Administrators. He discusses employers and the national education and training reform agenda, looking at such issues as the need for an organisational culture which has the best characteristics of education-industry partnerships, and will thus be effective in achieving change, commitment and productivity within organisations. He uses the TRAC (Training in Retailing and Commerce) program in New South Wales as an example of successful partnership between schools, industry and TAFE.
