Transitions from the VET in Schools Program: the 2000 year 12 cohort

This report is part of an ongoing study into the implementation of the VET in schools program in Victoria. It is the seventh report in a series and documents the variety of study and labour market destinations of the 2000 vocational education and training (VET) in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) graduates. Ninety four per cent of graduates who participated in VET in the VCE programs are making effective transitions to employment, apprenticeships and traineeships and to tertiary education. Over half of the leaving cohort is consistently going on to further study at either a University or a TAFE Institute. Using a comparison of non-VET graduates, the report further examines the relative success of VET in the VCE graduates in their transition to these post school destinations. The range of positive outcomes achieved by students over the past few years is evidence that VET in the VCE has become an important and successful pathway for many students. Show less
