Lifelong learning: sharing the Tunisian experience
In this paper the author offers a brief overview of changes in Tunisia following independence in 1955. Reforms to the education system immediately introduced included free education, compulsory basic education, adjusted learning schedule to meet rural needs and social and psychological assistance for young people who have specific needs. While adult literacy remains an ongoing concern a new approach integrates literacy with technical, manual and communication skills.
