Across the US, employers are navigating a radically changing landscape caused by [Coronavirus Disease 2019] COVID-19. This report assesses the ongoing impact of the pandemic on tech hiring, breaking down the trends by location, employer, role and skill. To gather these insights, job posting data was provided by Dice's partner, Burning Glass Technologies, which has a database of more than 1 billion current and historical job postings worldwide. The report presents three primary sets of job-posting data: comparisons between the second quarter of 2020 and 2019; comparisons between May and June of 2020 to represent the very latest tech hiring trends; and weekly job posting volume from April through June to provide a more granular look at the weekly fluctuations in tech job postings.
Emerging tech hubs and infrastructure-related occupations have continued to demonstrate growth during the pandemic. Occupations including Java developer (14 per cent), computer programmer (7 per cent) and DevOps engineer (3 per cent) have grown in [quarter 2] Q2 of 2020 compared to Q2 of 2019. The report also indicates that employer confidence is beginning to return as June job postings are significantly higher than May.
