In 2001 the Workplace Learning Research Unit of the University of Calgary, Canada, hosted this conference, bringing together international research into work and learning from a wide variety of national contexts, traditions and interests. The papers are organised into nine basic themes, in nine sections, with a tenth section containing an addendum and two papers in the English version. The themes are: action research; epistemology; gender and diversity; human resource development (HRD)/management; ideology; labour/partnership; learning; technology; and work.
