A skills audit of the UK film and screen industries

The UK film and screen industries are enjoying a period of success; film production is contributing billions to GDP, generating a strong trade surplus and investing millions of pounds in infrastructure. But to ensure the future success of the UK film and adjacent industries, it is critical that the talent pipeline is strong and capable of providing skilled workers who can continue to produce output and grow the sector. This report [for the British Film Institute] is a comprehensive audit of the skills challenges facing the industry, including analysis of the current gaps and where the future skills shortages are likely to be. It examines existing skills provision, identifying good practice and which areas could benefit from further development.

Alongside these topics, this report examines the diversity of the UK film sector, discussing the current situation and the barriers preventing those from diverse backgrounds entering and staying in the industry.
