TAFE Board annual report 1983/84

Reviews undertaken by the Public Service Board in 1982 into the organisation of TAFE and in 1983 into the structure of the Office of the TAFE Board provided the impetus for major changes in the TAFE system in 1983/84. The amendments to the Victorian Postsecondary Act 1978 and in June 1983 completed the first step in establishing TAFE's legislative role and function as a sector of tertiary education. The amendments were directed primarily at (a) the role and composition of the TAFE Board and Regional TAFE Boards, (b) the creation of a TAFE Teaching Service and associated Teacher Registration and Appeals Boards, (c) the establishment of a TAFE Accreditation Board, and (d) the relationship between the TAFE sector and the Victorian Postsecondary Education Commission. This report briefly outlines the new organisational structure and the major activities for 1983/1984.
