Evaluation of Enterprise Education in England

The core principle of Enterprise Education is to ensure young people are well equipped in facing the challenges of the world of work and entrepreneurship, resulting in a positive outcome for individuals, communities and the economy. This evaluation has sought to identify: how schools are utilising funding for Enterprise Education through the School Development Grant; the value added to the experience of pupils; and to pull out some inferences as to how this may translate into benefits for the economy in the longer-term. It draws on secondary data in the form of a literature review and primary data comprising of: a consultation with stakeholders to frame the evaluation and develop an outline of replicable good practice; quantitative survey of Enterprise Co-ordinators in 408 schools; and case study visits to 30 of these responding schools across England. A logic model has been developed to enable conclusions to be made about outcomes of provision as well as potential impacts in the longer-term.
