Equality and Human Rights Commission triennial review: education (lifelong learning): equality groups and apprenticeship

Young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds are more likely to participate in vocational education and training (VET) or apprenticeships than they are to pursue higher education. The raising of the participation age may mean that the VET system will need to expand to accommodate greater numbers of young people. Government supported apprenticeships will continue to grow and be a focus for policy makers. This paper provides data on patterns of apprenticeship participation and includes some new evidence on the participation of equality groups.
