Returns to education in developing countries
The empirical returns to schooling literature has proven to be a useful standard. The global average rate of return to schooling, estimated at 10 per cent, is used as a global benchmark. Empirical evidence on returns on investment in education is a useful indicator of the productivity of education, and it serves as an incentive for individuals to invest in their own human capital.
