Black women in nursing education completion programs: issues affecting participation

This article describes a qualitative study designed to define the factors that influence the participation of Black women in registered nurse (RN) completion programs in the US. The study, guided by a Black feminist theoretical framework, involved interviews with program participants and recent graduates. The results identified two groups of factors that facilitated participation: intrapersonal and cultural.
