Mentoring: how important for training part-time teachers?
This paper focuses on mentoring, a major aspect of the results of a research project in 1997 which aimed to investigate the success, in the Riverina Institute of TAFE (RIT), of the National Teaching and Learning (NTL) training program, and the reasons why the number of Certificates of Completion in NTL did not reflect the numbers of vocational teachers participating in the program. The researchers determined that successful completion of the program by participants has a high correlation with obtaining mentor support.
