Computers, laptops and tools
This publication reports on a two year study into the impact of computers in education conducted at Balwyn High School in Victoria, Australia. A class of Year 7 students was given laptops for use across the curriculum. Through student journals, teacher observations and academic performance, the effect of computers is charted to explore the true value of computers as tools for learning. Student attitudes and usage and parental opinion are discussed, changes to classroom procedures described, and the findings summarised.
