Institutions: formal or informal learning?
It is recognised that the recent push for formal courses in most areas of education tends to overlook the benefits of workplace learning in informal settings. This paper seeks to analyse this problem, and describes the different learning processes that take place in formal and informal conditions. Both formal and informal conditions have drawbacks for students. Many schools and colleges merely emphasise completing the task, which promotes neither knowledge nor self-efficiency.
