This book, an edited collection of key readings, uses a combination of analytical understanding and practical experience to deepen the analysis of current rural experience and to pose practical questions as to how continuing education can develop an agenda for lifelong learning in rural communities. The first section of the book charts lifelong learning in the UK, from the history of adult learning in rural communities to the wider context of the current crisis.
