Abstract:
Work-related learning is a rapidly developing feature within societies across the world. This volume contains the proceedings of a conference on work-related learning issues. It is set out into five sections. Work-related learning is a rapidly developing feature within societies across the world. This volume contains the proceedings of a conference on work-related learning issues. It is set out into five sections. They cover: 1) the theories and concepts in work and learning; 2) labour, trade unions, communities and partnerships; 3) professionalism, managerialism and continuing education; 4) researching work and learning in formal settings; and 5) innovative learning strategies. Each section contains a number of papers written by researchers and practitioners from a wide variety of national contexts. Section 1 offers a range of case studies as well as discussions on principles and concepts in work and learning (see TD/TNC 62.702 to TD/TNC 62.717 for the individual paper entries). Section 2 focuses on the experiences of the individual, the disadvantaged, the unemployed, the unskilled, the unqualified and the low paid within the context of the community, the work environment and the labour market (see TD/TNC 62.718 to TD/TNC 62.733 for the individual paper entries). Section 3 explores the concept of professionalism, developing professional expertise and continuing professional training within the contexts of work experience, work-related learning and lifelong learning (see TD/TNC 62.734 to TD/TNC 62.746 for the individual paper entries). Section 4 describes and evaluates various work-related learning programs that are offered in formal settings (see TD/TNC 62.747 to TD/TNC 62.750 and TD/TNC 62.767 to TD/TNC 62.770 for the individual paper entries). Section 5 explores the area of innovative learning strategies and offers a variety of case study approaches within the area (see TD/TNC 62.771 to TD/TNC 62.792 for the individual paper entries).
