North Carolina's first postsecondary technical institute: a Prosser model in the midst of a Dewey trend
This article examines the North Carolina Center for Applied Textile Technology (NCCATT) and the philosophy underlying its programs. The NCCATT is unique in that it is the only technical school in the country devoted almost exclusively to the textile trade. The authors investigated the driving forces that led to past and present program success. The school's philosophy goes counter to the prevailing trend in vocational education which supports ideas espoused by John Dewey.
