Lifelong learning in Europe, vol. IV, no. 1, 1999

Lifelong learning in Europe (LLinE) is published four times a year by the KVS (Kansanvalistusseura) Foundation in cooperation with the Finnish Adult Education Research Society. This issue of LLinE focuses on different ways in which learning and the learning society can be interpreted. An uneasy relationship exists between workplace learning and other learning forms, with organisations recognising the importance of learning, but still trying to limit or control their employees learning to include only what is relevant to their work. This is seeing learning identified only as it relates to education, training and qualifications, when in fact a great deal of learning is incidental and occurs beyond our working lives.
