This release provides information on adult (aged 19 and over) government-funded further education (excluding schools and higher education) and all age (16 and over) apprenticeships in England, between 2010 to 2011 and 2015 to 2016. It also includes the highest level of qualification held by adults (aged 19 to 64) in England calculated from Labour Force Survey (LFS) data. Highest levels of qualification data are presented from 2008 to 2014, although 2014 figures are provisional and subject to revisions.

It also includes provisional data for the first three quarters of the 2013/14 academic year. The release also presents key statistics on the highest level of qualification held by adults in England from 2006 to 2013, calculated from Labour Force Survey (LFS) data. Figures relating to 2013 are provisional and are subject to revisions.

This statistical resource provides the latest provisional initial participation rates for higher education (HE). The Higher Education Initial Participation Rate (HEIPR) is an estimate of the likelihood of ayoung person participating in HE by age 30 based on current participation rates. These statistics include data on students who are: (1) 17- to 30-years-old; (2) in HE for the first time; (3) living in England; (4) in UK HE institutions and English, Welsh and Scottish further education colleges; and (5) staying in HE for at least six months.
