The purpose of this study was to determine whether an additional training facility was needed in the Warren Blackwood region. The study examined current training needs, and current training facilities and programmes, and their effectiveness. It investigated high school needs for vocational training facilities, the needs of distance education students, and projected education and training needs. The study was conducted through interviews with representatives of industries, training organisations and high schools. Results indicated that additional training infrastructure is required to satisfy industries diverse needs and that the Commonwealth Employment Service is limited by the lack of a suitable training venue. The sheep and cattle industry could benefit from a change to non-academic vocational programmes. Distance education requires increased support and expanded options. The major recommendations are that funding be sought for a community training facilitator, and extra classrooms. Questionnaires are included.
