Today's vocational education programs often do not provide the skills training and job placement opportunities that both students and the job market require. Job Corps, America's largest and most successful vocational education program for youth, can serve as a model for other job skills training programs that are aiming to improve. This paper identifies the factors that have influenced, and continue to influence, Job Corps' success. It shows how following the example that Job Corps has set can lead to successful vocational education programs that will better address the needs of workers-to-be and of employers as well.
