Reframing the Future is the national staff development and change management program funded through the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) to assist with the implementation of the national training system. This publication provides insights into how vocational education and training (VET) professionals and organisations are responding to the challenges of implementing a national training system in Australia. It contains brief profiles of the experiences of VET organisations that have taken part in Reframing the Future projects. The national training system requires a new approach to the provision of training because it is industry-led and demand-driven, training is based on standards outlined in Training Packages and customised to each group of learners, and training often occurs in the workplace where the teacher/trainer assesses student competence in new skills. The profiles demonstrate how providers are developing a new approach to the provision of training in response to these new conditions. The profiles are grouped under the five Reframing the Future sub-programs: staff development; strategic management and change management; policy engagement; communities of practice; and information and research dissemination. The findings from the profiles reveal the high level of interest among providers in improving assessment strategies, the increasing capacity of providers for implementing the national system, improved client focus and enhanced learning outcomes, and the enhancement of individual capabilility through professional collaboration. The profiles also indicate that Reframing the Future is having a significant impact on the implementation of the system. Show less
