For most, college is an investment in the future, a pathway to a career, and a launching point for one's professional life. The initial step following the attainment of a degree is just that - the first destination among, presumably, a series of destinations over the evolution of a career. This report examines the initial step - the first destination. This, the fourth iteration of annual survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), examines how [US] Class of 2017 graduates - from the associate through the doctoral level - fared initially in their professional life. The report for the college Class of 2017 provides information about where graduates at the undergraduate and graduate levels land within six months of graduation. New graduate outcomes include various types of employment (full or part time, contract, temporary), additional education, entrance into the military or other service, still seeking (not employed, not continuing education), and not seeking. The report also provides starting salary data for those employed full time. Outcomes data are also broken down by region, control structure, [Classification of Instructional Programs] CIP code, academic discipline, and academic title for bachelor's and master's degree levels. Bachelor's degree data are also broken down by size of school, and Carnegie class. The report reaffirms that the overwhelming majority of graduates, regardless of the type of school or academic program from which they graduated, are able to land a positive outcome fairly quickly after graduation.

This, the sixth iteration of annual survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), examines the initial landing spot for [US] Class of 2019 graduates. The report provides a baseline for assessing where graduates at all degree levels - from the associate through the doctoral level - fared in the six months that followed graduation. This report contains information about employment outcomes, starting salaries, and continuing education for graduates at all levels, but provides the most insight into the first destinations of bachelor's degree graduates and, to a lesser degree, of those earning master's degrees. Because of the amount of data available for these groups, we are also able to address outcomes by region and by controlling authority of the institution (public versus private); for bachelor's degree graduates, we are also able to look at outcomes by size of school, Carnegie Classification, and academic discipline.

[The] Class of 2014 First-Destination Survey is the first-ever national survey focused on outcomes of new college graduates. It represents the inaugural survey in what is an annual initiative to provide clear, concise, and consistent data on the outcomes associated with a college education on a national scale. More than 200 colleges and universities nationwide, representing 274,000 graduates - including more than one-quarter of a million bachelor's degree graduates - provided data for Class of 2014 associate and bachelor's degree graduates. (Class of 2014 is defined as those graduating from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014.) Overall, data were reported for nearly 175,000 bachelor's degree graduates, making this study the most comprehensive view of bachelor's degree outcomes available. The study provides data for 31 broad disciplines and 190 majors. The results for the Class of 2014 presented in this report represent a baseline for assessing where graduates at the undergraduate level land within six months, on average, after receiving their degree. The results cover students who have received either an associate degree or a bachelor's degree. The findings are much more detailed for the bachelor's degree because of the much larger number of institutions taking part.

This initial report of first-destination outcomes provides a wealth of information about the employment possibilities, the educational options, and the public services undertaken by graduates relatively close to the time they receive their degree. The report points out that the overwhelming majority of graduates, regardless of the type of school or academic program from which they graduated, are able to land a positive outcome fairly quickly after graduation. This is relatively good news, but this good news is tempered by the fact that nearly one in five bachelor's degree recipients is still 'adrift' six months after the end of the academic year. As this was the first year for the study, there are no comparable data upon which to judge how well or how poorly the Class of 2014 did relative to its predecessors. This report establishes a baseline that will allow for comparisons with future classes in a more definitive fashion.

College is typically considered the launching point into professional life, the preparation one undergoes to gain entrance to the world of work. Nothing suggested otherwise for those poised to graduate in 2020 - until the [Coronavirus Disease 2019] COVID-19 pandemic shuttered institutions, employing organizations, and much of the world in March 2020. Just a few months away from spring graduation, the college Class of 2020 found its anticipated entry into the work world disrupted.

First Destinations for the Class of 2020 provides a look into what happened to the class, examining what should have been the initial step into professional life for many new graduates. It provides a baseline for assessing how graduates at all degree levels - from the associate through to the doctoral degree - fared within six months of graduation. This report, the seventh iteration of NACE's annual outcomes survey, contains information about employment outcomes, starting salaries, and continuing education for graduates at all levels, but the bulk of the data are for bachelor's degree graduates, and, to a lesser extent, for those earning a master's degree.

This, the second iteration of annual survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), examines how [US] Class of 2015 graduates at all degree levels - associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate - fared initially in their professional life. The inaugural survey conducted for the Class of 2014 [report available in VOCEDplus at TD/TNC 120.526] captured data for associate and bachelor's degree graduates. The Class of 2015 report provides comparisons between 2015 and 2014 graduates at the bachelor's degree level. The Class of 2015 is defined as those graduating between July 1, 2014, and June 30, 2015. Data were collected through December 30, 2015, and reported to NACE in March 2016. A total of 279 colleges and universities nationwide, representing nearly half a million graduates, provided data for Class of 2015 graduates. Overall, data were reported for nearly 244,000 bachelor's degree graduates in 34 broad disciplines and 185 majors, making this study the most comprehensive view of bachelor's degree outcomes currently available.
