This report discusses the shared vision, goals, and objectives developed by the four main [Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship] ACA workgroups, and offers the ACA's recommendations for leveraging Registered Apprenticeship to improve competitiveness and prosperity for American industries and workers. It seeks to inform various audiences about the benefits of the Registered Apprenticeship model for a variety of stakeholders, thereby building more widespread support for the model as a proven and replicable solution for more employers, industries, and workers. This report provides a foundation for a robust national conversation around opportunities to expand Registered Apprenticeship for maximum benefit to the US economy and the American workforce.

All countries have unique cultures, histories, economies, and challenges. Yet despite these differences, the economies of the world are becoming increasingly interrelated as technology and world trade grow. As a result, local economies are increasingly affected by changes in worldwide markets. Showcasing data from all areas of the [International labor comparisons] ILC program and other sources, the chartbooks were a gateway to explore how key labor market and other national economic measurements compare across countries, providing a snapshot in time of where the US stands in relation to key economies of the rest of the world. Understanding this was designed to help better prepare the workforce and economy to continue to thrive and prosper. This series, now discontinued, provided a comparative labor market perspective, including employment levels, jobless rates, hours worked, labor costs, and productivity trends. As the charts reveal, the US lead in some areas and, in other cases, its trading partners had made great progress.
The series was a cooperative effort of three agencies in the Department of Labor: the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy (OASP), and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Since 1960, BLS has adjusted selected labor market data of foreign countries to improve their comparability with US data. In order to increase country and indicator coverage, BLS data are supplemented by data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and other international organizations.
