The aims of the study were: (1) to summarise the special provisions available for the particular needs of people with disabilities, especially concerning their integration within normal classes and their future employment; (2) to summarise the legal aspects of teaching people with disabilities, and; (3) to identify major issues for research needed into vocational education needs of persons with disabilities. The focus of the study was on the participation and the needs of persons with a sensory or a physical disability in mainstream TAFE vocational courses and not on special programs for persons with an additional disability. The study sought the views of providers of as well as students in TAFE mainstream courses.
