The aim of this resource is to improve language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) practices within vocational education and training (VET) delivery and assessment, and to comply with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) through a planned approach to LLN. It provides models of good practice, suggestions and practical assistance and a number fact files that include practical information and tools. This resource has been updated to take into account changes to the VET system: the development of the Australian Core Skills Framework (replacing the National Reporting System) and the review of the Australian Quality Training Framework.

The 'Queensland vocational education and training (VET) continuous professional learning strategy: 2012-2015' assists the VET workforce to continue to be highly skilled and valued as a key contributor to Queensland's ongoing economic development. It builds upon the priorities identified in the 2007-2010 strategy and through an intentional change in perspective it redirects the training or education from development 'of a professional' to learning 'by a professional'. It supports the view that the VET professional needs to make active decisions in relation to identification of the most relevant knowledge and skills that will continue to improve performance, as well as include active participation in the learning process.

This guide has been designed to assist [vocational education and training] VET teachers and trainers, disability practitioners, and educational managers to make 'reasonable adjustment' in teaching, learning and assessment. It explains the concept and role of reasonable adjustment in VET to: increase the participation of all learners (especially those with a disability); and reduce the impact of disability on achieving a vocational qualification leading to employment. The guide provides information and practical strategies for applying reasonable adjustment in teaching, learning and assessment.
