There has been a rapid increase in demand for information and communication technology (ICT). This brief article discusses the British Government's aim to provide flexible learning opportunities which fit in with different types of learning requirements. Visionary ideas such as Digital Scotland and the Knowledge Economy are top of the political agenda. The author emphasises that there seems to be universal agreement that Scotland will need to be at the forefront of ICT if it is to thrive and continue to generate jobs. The author emphasises that further education colleges need to be leading the ICT vanguard. Show less
