VET teachers engaging 'in' and 'with' research as part of their professional practice

In the changing-world-of-work and the VET reforming (in various iterations) associated changing-world-of-VET-teaching, there is much to be gained by VET teachers including researching, and drawing upon the research of others, as part of their professional practice. The gain accruing from inquisitive, scholarly (in a VET way) inclined, teachers strengthening their own delivery of VET and as partners in the evolving role of VET within the tertiary education arena. Exploration, to date, indicates that VET teachers are possibly more research engaged (albeit informally) than might be thought. Also, beyond the informally engaged, there is a cohort of VET teachers who are overtly and purposefully researching teaching practice and associated vocational matters who beckon as models for others to emulate. Accordingly, this paper is an overview of exploration to date, a snapshot of VET strengthening opportunities and related matters, and emerging themes guiding motivating and supporting action in respect of VET teachers as resilient teacher/researchers.
