Literacy Now provides news, case studies and articles of interest to researchers, administrators, training providers, adult literacy practitioners and others in the adult English language and literacy field. The bi-monthly journal covers topics such as: English as a second language, vocational and workplace literacy, staff training and professional development, research, plain English, numeracy, Aboriginal literacy and distance education, literacy for people with disabilities and in rehabilitation programs, adult literacy and basic education, family literacy, new and emerging technologies relevant to literacy teaching and distance education, policies, projects and programs at the Commonwealth, State and regional levels, notices about forthcoming conferences, seminars and courses, and reviews of resources for practitioners, English as a second language (ESL) students and adult new readers.

Literacy Now is published by Susan Munter Communications for the Commonwealth Department of Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs, funded under the 1996 Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) Adult Literacy National Project.
